How does the choir work?

The choir is split into 3 age groups corresponding to school years.

Huddersfield Young Singers has the best choir directors for your children, here is a bit more about them.

James Lewis


James is the director of the Junior and Senior choirs. He has been a freelance choir director and vocal coach for over 20 years and frequently delivers choral workshops in the North West area. He has conducted many choirs at the Music for Youth National Finals and at the Royal Albert Hall. He also directed the Choir for the Closing Ceremony of the 2002 Commonwealth Games.

Lucy Kimmings


Lucy is the director of the little voices. She is a freelance dance and singing teacher working in the Kirklees area. The Little Voices have got through to the national finals of Music for Youth in 2015 and 2016.

Huddersfield Young Singers has been teaching kids how much fun singing can be since 2005, having today a total amount of 100 kids on board learning with our choir directors. The purpose of the young singers is to develop an enjoyment of singing from a early age up until high school.
